Bookkeeping Cleanup
A cleanup (also called catch-up) is a fixed project that brings your books current: reconciling past months, fixing miscategorized transactions, clearing stale balances and producing statements you can file taxes or seek financing with.
Typically included
- Diagnostic review of your current file and bank statements
- Reconciliation of every account for the period in scope
- Correction of categories, duplicates and undeposited funds
- Opening balances confirmed with your tax preparer
- Hand-off memo describing what was fixed and why
Usually not included
- Amended tax returns or IRS representation (separate, licensed engagement)
- Recreating records that do not exist anywhere
- Ongoing monthly work, unless you choose to continue
Signs you need this
You have not reconciled in months
A lender or buyer asked for financials you cannot produce
Tax deadline is approaching and the file is not ready
Questions to ask any provider
- 1.Is the quote fixed, or billed hourly with an estimate?
- 2.What documents do you need from me, and when?
- 3.What is the realistic completion date?
- 4.Do you offer monthly bookkeeping afterward, and is it optional?
How pricing usually works
Cleanup is usually quoted as a project after the provider reviews your file. Price depends on months behind, number of accounts and how complete your records are.

FAQ
- Do I need to send documents to FinRoster?
- No. The first request never asks for statements or tax documents. You share records only with the provider you choose, once you engage them.
- How long does a cleanup take?
- It depends on scope. Providers give a date after reviewing your file; ask for it in writing.
- Can the same firm handle ongoing bookkeeping?
- Often, yes. We note in the match whether a provider offers both.
